Berengarra School is an independent secondary school in Melbourne that provides an alternative education for students who are disengaged from mainstream schooling. It is a co-educational school for students in Years 7-12 who may experience anxiety, ADHD, autism, PDA, learning differences, school refusal, or social and emotional challenges. The school provides small class sizes, individual learning plans, and a trauma-informed learning environment for students who have not been successful in mainstream school settings.
The school currently has two campuses in Box Hill and Chadstone. The Box Hill Campus caters for students in Years 7-10, and the Chadstone Campus is for students in Years 11-12. The school follows the Victorian Curriculum (except that it doesn’t offer languages), and Year 11-12 students can study the Victorian Pathways Certificate (VPC) or the VCE Vocational Major (VM), both of which are designed as practical, applied learning programs that integrate real -world skills with academic achievement. Delivered over three years (with an option for two), this flexible structure allows students to complete their Year 12 schooling at their own pace.
