Most instructions for building toys are entirely visual – a printed diagram, a picture booklet or a fast-paced video to copy along to. That works well for a lot of kids but not for everyone.
Lusora makes magnetic tiles and we’ve created free audio and video-guided building instructions to go with them – step-by-step spoken directions, with a matching video option for kids who’d rather watch and follow along. The guides are brand-agnostic, so they work with any magnetic tiles a family already has at home, not just ours.
We built this because a lot of the autistic kids and families we spoke to wanted something that let them build at their own pace, without needing to interpret a diagram or keep up with a video that moves too fast. The audio can be paused, replayed, or slowed down any time, and there’s no login or app needed – just play the guide and start building.
It’s been used by autistic children, their families, and by educators and therapists in one-on-one sessions and small groups, as a way to support independent play, sequencing, and following along at a pace that works for them.
